Palawan Escapade 2014 (Part 1)

This post will feature my vacation in Palawan last May 2014. Since I had been to many locations in Palawan, I have to separate this feature into parts. This will be part 1 of my Palawan Escapade.

This trip was planned by my relatives because of the promo fares given by local airlines. Also, it's been a while that I went on vacation with a big group. There were around 20 of us. hehehe. Lastly, this is my second time that I went on vacation without my parents and my sisters joining me. I'm joined by my aunts, uncles, and cousins on this trip.

Going to Palawan

We checked-in at Davao International Airport at around 5:20 am. We rode Cebu Pacific for this trip.
There are only five of us on this flight because my other relatives were booked on a different airline. Though there was a direct flight from Davao to Puerto Princesa during that time, we opted to connect via Cebu because of the promo fare.

Check-in process was uneventful. Then we pay the terminal fee of Php 200. After that, we proceeded to our gate.

Our flight to Cebu

We boarded early and departed Davao at around 7 am (20 minutes earlier than scheduled). We arrived at Cebu at around 8 am.

After we grabbed our luggage, we checked-in for our flight to Puerto Princesa. Take note that you will no longer pay the terminal fee if your flight originated in Manila and Cebu because it's already included in the ticket.

We decided to have an early lunch (I can't say it's brunch because I had breakfast already.) on an eatery (I forgot the name though) across the airport. It's located in the parking area of Waterfront Airport Hotel Mactan. And yes, you can go outside the airport terminal as long as you have your boarding pass with you.

We boarded the aircraft and departed at around 10:45 am.

Cebu Pacific bound for Puerto Princesa

We arrived at Puerto Princesa at around 11:50 am, ten minutes ahead of schedule.

We were fetched by a staff of Gracia's Inn (the hotel that we would going to stay in our trip) to take us there. Gracia's Inn was a residential place converted (not completely) into an inn.

After settling our things, it's time to explore! We got to explore Puerto Princesa ahead because my other relatives would arrive in the city by late afternoon.

Time to Explore!

The first place we visited was Noki Nocs, a restaurant situated on Rizal Ave. and across the Palawan Provincial Capitol Building. Some of us ate lunch while the others (including me) decided to order dessert because we're not hungry. We decided to try their halo-halo because it looks different from a traditional halo-halo. Though it looked different, but the taste is very good.

After eating, several tricycle drivers approached us and asked us where will we go. Honestly, we don't know where to go next. So one driver recommended us to go to one of the shopping areas. We hopped inside the tricycle and the driver brought us to Mercado de San Miguel. It is one of the souvenir shops of Puerto Princesa. You can buy shirts, jewelry, decorations, local delicacy, and etc. I didn't shop yet becuase we still have a week to stay in Palawan.  I wanted to buy souvenirs
at the last minute.

Next, we went to another shopping area, which is LRC 908. The place also sells the same stuff as Mercado de San Miguel. You can also buy woodcraft and even customized shirts.

Last place we visited on this day was Puerto Princesa Baywalk. This is where most people flock to relax and enjoy what the Baywalk has to offer. You can jog, watch the sunset, eat, and chat with friends or even the locals.

We had dinner at K'na Boyet sa Baywok, which is located on the left end of the Baywalk. There are also different food stalls to choose from.

This is also the time where the rest of my relatives arrived in Puerto Princesa. Good thing they catch up on us on dinner.

This ends our unofficial exploration of Puerto Princesa. The next day was the start of our official city tour of Puerto Princesa together with a tour guide.

Stay tuned for more of my Palawan adventures!

See you guys later!
